To create value, different levels of value have to created by enforcing division.

It’s fashion. To make something desirable you have to create an impression that the product is valuable to many. The image is beyond the product, jumping into the abstract. 

Possibly capitalizing on the impulse for vanity and exclusivity. There is nothing romantic about it.

It’s not about the object itself but what others think it embodies.

Often times the object in the end is worthless.
